Family Reunions
 As a family operated resort, we believe strongly in the importance of family in our lives. Should you choose Hohmeyer's Lake Clear Lodge and our Adirondack Alps experience you will meet first-hand 3 generations of our family intimately involved in providing your family with as many memory-making moments as we can. It is a spirit that we seek to immerse you in - in a very laid back but very personalized approach. There are no valets in the driveway or TV's in the rooms. However, it is an experience where proprietor Ernest Hohmeyer personally explains the evening fare, Chef Cathy Hohmeyer hand-cuts the fresh stocks of vegetables and herbs from our garden and where you can browse through our family handcrafted wein and bier keller milled from wood from our own property or stay in our hand built accommodations. "Omi" still passes on her secret ingredients and our own children are directly involved with the success and atmosphere of our Lodge. We continue with many of our respective families new and old world traditions with our own 21st century flair. Yet, we believe that since the early days of the Adirondacks there is a natural and human spirit here that is there to immerse yourself in and we attempt to rejuvenate you by Cathy's natural and holistic herbs, spices and oils that flavor our Adirondack Alps Cuisine.  We reach out to you through our hand-crafted rustic lodgings with old world twists and through every blade of grass and snow-packed trails which generations of our families have transversed, along with the souls of many before us who always seemed to congregate on our 22 acre estate to contribute to an energy that helped themselves and formed the foundation to rejuvenate others. Decade's of my mother pounding on schnitzels, growing fresh flowers, herbs and spices in our garden scent the hallways, my father philosophizing to our guests while he mixed them a family elixir resonate in the Rathskeller, and Cathy's great aunt hand sorting the registered mail that came by stage coach that was eagerly anticipated by local residents seem to dance in the embers of our mammoth stone fireplace.
Most importantly we do not treat you as our customer but as a friend who is visiting our home as for three generations this has been our home.
As with everything we do at Hohmeyer's Lake Clear Lodge and our Adirondack Alps experience, we seek to create with you a very personalized occasion. Depending on the size of your group we seek to "reserve" sections of our 22-acre estate for your family reunion. We also provide a flexible meal plan with diverse locations throughout the property. A typical week-long family reunion includes a 3-night meal plan whereby you can have all meals in our 1886 dining room, or the Rathskeller, under the tent in our 3 acre lakeside lawn or in your hand-crafted lodging. Locations and types of meals are dependent upon your package, availability and number in your group. It is also possible, and quite welcomed, for you to reserve the entire 22 acre estate for your family dependent on number of people and time of year.
Unique, original and handcrafted amenities for your family reunion include:
- 1886 Main Lodge: Home of the Adirondacks Alps culinary experience with hand-hued dining room that seats 65, a huge Rathskeller with immense stone fireplace that serves as a place to relax, the Adirondack's only handcrafted Wine & Bier Keller with over 100 old world biers and 125 boutique wines, a game room, lobby/reception area and outdoor biergarten (weather permitting).
- 3 acre Beach Property with 175 feet of beachfront with over 2 acres of lawn. This is a great area to spread out, relax and use our amenities that include canoes, kayaks and row boats (we also have bicycles). There is storage and changing room. The beach is a great starting point to travel the St. Regis Wilderness area. The lawns are immaculately cared for and great for solitude, outdoor games and special events such as lakeside weddings, family reunions or meetings that can be easily arranged with tents. Electrical power is available. There are no bathrooms on the lake unless you utilize one of the vacation rentals Our Lakeside has just simply the greatest sunsets you will see in the Adirondacks as our beach faces directly west and looks right at St. Regis Mountain.
- Lodge Lawns: There are 2 huge lawns in the front of the main building great for recreational activity (there is a basketball court), events that require a tent yet access to the main building for indoor/outdoor functions and a biergarten behind the Rathskeller. There is also the Lakeside lawn.
- Lake Placid to Old Forge Recreational Trail for hiking, cross-country skiing and snowmobiling can be directly accessed from our property.
- Adirondack Alps Culinary Center that serves gourmet take-out to guests as well as off and on-site catering with full liquor license.
- Walking/Jogging & Cross-Country Skiing Trails: Directly on our 22 acres is a mile long trail that takes you throughout our woods and from which you can access the Lake Placid-Old Forge Recreational Trail and the Jack Rabbit Cross Country Ski Trail that takes you from Paul Smiths to the High Peaks.
- Adirondack Trail: The Lodge is located on the Adirondack Trail (Rt. 30) Highway that runs north-south through the Adirondack Park and is a great scenic drive or bike.
- Natural Features: By just sitting in a chair outside you're handcrafted lodging or down by the lake you hear, see ands sometimes smell the natural beauty that is the Adirondack Park. Birds, trees, flora, fauna, fish, wildlife and our resident deer, loons, ducks and bald eagle are just a sampling of what is right in front of you without going anywhere off the property.
- We are the "capitol" of the Adirondacks with unfathomable recreational, cultural, historical and environmental area attractions. Out of your handcrafted lodging you are minutes away from unparalleled solitude, or internationally recognized cultural and sporting events. Minutes away from the Olympic region and historic Saranac Lake and Tupper Lake.
- Lake Clear is a unique body of water as it is the dividing line between those waters that run north and those that run east and south. The rivers that run to the North go to the St. Lawrence River that separates the United States from Canada and connects the Great Lakes to the Atlantic Ocean. The waters that run east and south flow to Lake Champlain that borders New York State with Vermont and New England and south to the Hudson River and beyond. It is 65ft. at its deepest point and is approximately 1.5 to 2 miles in circumference. It is excellent for boating, fishing (the famous lure "the Lake Clear Wobbler is named from it), wind surfing, birding, swimming, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling and contemplation.
- The St. Regis Wilderness Area: The 58 bodies of water of the St. Regis Canoe Area form the headwaters of three rivers: the Middle Branch and West Branch of the St. Regis River, and the Saranac River. It is an area where one can escape civilization and find an Adirondacks not much different than before human incursions. With such a vast array of ponds, lakes, rivers and streams, the St. Regis Canoe Area offers some of the best 4-season recreation in New York State. In the summer enjoy exclusive non-motorized boating and in the winter, miles of back country hiking, cross-country skiing and snowmobiling.
