Our 1886 main Lodge is a love of life and the centerpiece of our 22 acre Adirondack "Great Camp" style estate. It is one of the last original lodges open to the public. It has been serving guests since circa 1886 we believe as a trading post and post office. Cathy Hohmeyer's Great Aunt and Uncle Otis built the main Lodge. In the early days of the community, the locals often referred to Lake Clear as "Otisville". The Jarvis family bought the facility circa 1920's and expanded the Lodge several times until they ceased operating it in the 1950's. Ernest Hohmeyer's family bought the facility in 1965 and began operating it as a four-season resort in 1966. 2006 marks our 40th Anniversary.
The main Lodge is currently approximately 10,000 sq. ft. with the following features:
Home of the Adirondacks Alps culinary experience with hand-hued dining room that seats 65.
Rathskeller with immense stone fireplace that serves as a place to relax (and where Ernest explains the evenings fare) and the Adirondack's only handcrafted Wine & Bier Keller with over 100 old world biers and 125 boutique wines. The Rathskeller also serves as a game room during non-dinner hours.
There is a lobby/reception area and outdoor biergarten (weather permitting).
Four B&B roomsin the 1886 Lodge each with a different motif but all with their own private bath (and some with soaking tubs and hydrotherapy steam showers for 2!). Symbolizing their diverse nature they each have their own individual name: Birch, Canopy, Country and Pine.
Lodge Lawns There are 2 huge lawns in the front of the main building great for recreational activity (there is a basketball court), events that require a tent yet access to the main building for indoor/outdoor functions and a biergarten behind the Rathskeller. There is also the Lakeside lawn.
Adirondack Alps Culinary Center that serves gourmet take-out to guests as well as off and on-site catering with full liquor license.
Lodge Gardens that serve as the focal point of Cathy Hohmeyer's fresh herbed, spice and vegetable based Adirondack Alps Cuisine.

While those are the amenities, the main Lodge has been home for 4 generations of our family. We sleep as a family here, we eat as a family, we share dreams, we discuss indifferences, we cry, but most importantly we love here. It is why the Adirondack Alps experience here at the Hohmeyer's Lake Clear Lodge is so personable and caring - we treat you as if you are in our home because for 40 years - this HAS BEEN our home!
